A drive up to the mountains is always refreshing on a 90 degree day in Charlotte, and this weekend was no exception! I always jump at the chance to play at a new venue, so I was glad to be booked for a wedding at The Broyhill Inn & Conference Center in Boone. Surrounded by mountains, it’s a perfect spot for such a romantic occasion!

The bride and groom wanted a more traditional and classic atmosphere with their wedding music, which fit in perfectly with the simple yet elegant decorations, dimly lit by stately chandeliers.  As a musician, I would also like to add that the ballroom had superb acoustics!

Prelude ~ Mostly classical music, but also ‘I Hope You Dance’ at the bride’s request

Seating of Parents and Grandparents~ Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach)

Processional ~ Cannon in D (Pachelbel)

Exchange of Vows~ It was a nice touch here to play soft music in the background, which included ‘Whatever It Is’ (Zac Brown Band)

Recessional ~ ‘Spring’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. I also played ‘Ode To Joy’ (Beethoven) here, as the guests were dismissed

The Duke Mansion

Since I absolutely adore old homes and historical buildings, I loved playing at The Duke Mansion in Charlotte this weekend! Despite the thunder and wet weather, I couldn’t help but say “Wow” as I pulled up the drive to this gorgeous old home. A gleaming white building with southern charm, you feel as though you are stepping back in time as you walk in the door!

The event was a rehearsal dinner for a wedding, which was made all the more lovely by the surroundings and elegantly simple table decorations. Being an evening to celebrate romance, I played quite a few love songs and love-themed music, as well as a nice mix of classical and modern. A little something for everyone!

I had a great time playing for this wedding at the beautiful Deerpond Plantation in Charlotte. This was my second time performing at this fabulous location, and it was great to be back! It truly is a magical place to be married, surrounded by palm trees, flowers and a beautiful pond with a fountain.

For this wedding, the bride and groom wanted to add an element of fun to their big day – and the music was no exception! Being big fans of the Beatles, they decided to have mostly all songs by the Beatles. As you will see by the titles, they did a great job of selecting songs that went perfectly with each part of the ceremony. If you’re looking for ideas for your ceremony music, choosing a theme like this one makes for a fun atmosphere!

Pre-Ceremony Music – Tiny Dancer (Elton John), Blackbird, All My Lovin’, Because, Girl, Hey Jude, If I Fell, In My Life, Let It Be

Seating of Grandparents & Parents – Till There Was You

Attendant’s Processional – With A Little Help From My Friends

Bridal Processional – Across The Universe

Recessional – All You Need Is Love

Brookdale Place of South Charlotte

I had the honor of being invited to play for a Mother’s Day Tea at Brookdale Place of South Charlotte. What a lovely event! Residents of the community were joined by their family and friends to celebrate Mother’s Day, complete with pretty decorations and delicious treats. Harp music seemed like the perfect background for such an elegant atmosphere with a victorian theme. In addition to some classical pieces, I played some songs that I thought the day’s special guests would enjoy – timeless love songs and a few showtunes . Playing “Danny Boy” as a special request was a great way to add to the fun!

I had a lovely time this weekend playing for a dinner party reception at the beautiful Country Club in Piper Glen. It’s always so fun to sit back and play some nice background music in a beautiful setting, and this was no exception. What a perfect spring evening for a dinner party, with the sun setting over the picturesque golf course! A mix of classical music and modern love songs complimented the elegant setting and celebratory atmosphere of the evening.

Absolutely GORGEOUS day for a late spring wedding!  It was my first time playing at the beautiful Memorial United Methodist Church on Central Avenue in Charlotte, which is the perfect place for a traditional church wedding! The large and airy sanctuary has some beautiful stained glass windows, and the white steeple serves as a perfect backdrop to wedding pictures taken out on the large church lawn.

The bride and groom selected just the right music for their big day, classic and timeless songs to compliment the traditional setting:

Seating of Grandparents & Parents ~ Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (Bach)

Attendant’s Processional ~ Cannon in D (Pachelbel)

Bridal Processional ~ Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin (Wagner)

Unity Candle ~ Ave Maria (Schubert)

Recessional ~ “Spring” from the Four Seasons (Vivaldi)
