Wedding Ceremony – Gastonia, NC

Such a glorious September afternoon to make the drive down to Gastonia for a wedding ceremony! The sanctuary of Landmark Baptist Church was beautifully decorated with pretty flowers, peacock feathers and draped tulle. A big congratulations to the bride and groom as they start their married life together!

For their big day, this couple was hoping to create a classic atmosphere, but wanted to add individuality to their wedding by using songs other than the commonly requested standards. The classical music selected fit their wishes to a T!

Pre-Ceremony Music ~ All classical music, and included a few of their specially picked favorites: Prelude in C (Bach), Claire de Lune (Debussy), Arioso (Bach)

Seating of Grandparents and Mothers ~ Air on A G String (Bach)

Attendant’s Processional ~ Waltz from Swan Lake (Tchaikovsky)

Bridal Processional ~ Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin (Wagner)

Unity Cross Ceremony ~ Le Cygne (Saint-Saens)

Recessional ~ “Aquarium” from Carnival of the Animals (Saint-Saens)

Wedding Reception – Gastonia, NC

What a lovely wedding reception this weekend at Union Presbyterian Church in Gastonia! I absolutely adore historic churches, and this one was no exception – what a beautiful place to say “I Do”! The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the church, which was breathtakingly decorated. Fine & Fancy Flowers of Gastonia did an amazing job transforming the hall into into a romantic place to celebrate, complete with beautiful centerpieces and hundreds of dimmed white lights. (I’m afraid my camera from the stoneage did not do it justice!)

The bride and groom wanted their reception to have a classic and elegant atmosphere, so I chose songs that would set the mood and that the guests would enjoy. Some classics (What A Wonderful World, Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso, Falling In Love With Love and Can’t Help Falling In Love With You), a few classical pieces (Arioso and Minuet), as well as some newer titles (I Hope You Dance, Two Is Better Than One and When You Say Nothing At All) just to name a few. I also played All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera as the bride and groom’s first dance.

Wonderfully romantic evening – congratulations to the happy couple!!

Date Night

A big thank you to all those who helped organize “Date Night” at Southbrook Church! Throughout the month of August married and dating couples have been meeting at Chick-Fil-A for a dinner date. Each night had a discussion theme, with a conversation “menu” provided. My husband and I have really gotten a lot out of the thought-provoking questions, as I’m sure a lot of other couples did.

After a few weeks of fast food dinner dates (albeit fancy, black table cloth with flowers fast food!), organizers really pulled out all the stops with the final “Dessert Night”. Held at the church this time, it was complete with elegant decorations, gourmet desserts and live music! I was honored to be asked to play as everyone was arriving and enjoying dessert. Love songs were definitely a must for an evening like this, so I pulled out my favorite songs of romance. What a great evening!
