Oakmonte Village

Such a pleasure to be invited back again this year to play some harp music for Valentine’s Day dinner! The residents and staff at Oakmonte Village Assisted Living are so friendly, and they really do it up fancy for Valentine’s Day – decorations, a special menu, and live music ♥

I had a good time playing some music that everyone could hum along to – classic favorites of all eras….My Funny Valentine, Danny Boy, Til There Was You & Clair de Lune.

Always fun to play for such a great audience!

Christmas Party – Daytona Beach

Marina Grande Condos – Daytona Beach, FL

One of the stand-out parties I played for this Christmas season!  I was booked as a surprise for the party hosts by their good friends – so fun to knock at the door half hour before the party started 🙂

A very lovely Christmas gathering, held in a high-rise condo with a spectacular river view. I was originally booked for 1 hour, but I ended up being invited to play for 3! Always a pleasure to play those special holiday songs that make up the season’s soundtrack, especially for gatherings like this one among special friendships.

Hope you and yours have had a magical Christmas season!

Ancient City Baptist – St. Augustine

Ancient City Baptist Church

A beautiful Christmas wedding at Ancient City Baptist in downtown St. Augustine! The church dates back to the 1800’s, and is such a lovely place to say ‘I Do’.

For this ceremony I played the prelude and first processionals, and a guitarist did the rest:

Prelude ~ A mix of classical and modern love songs at the bride & groom’s request: Butterfly Waltz (Brian Crain), God Gave Me You (Dave Barnes), Beloved (Kari Jobe), Prelude in C (Bach)

Grandparents’ and Mothers’ Entrance ~ Morning Has Broken (Hymn)

Bridal Party’s Entrance ~ Beautiful Things (Gungor)

Silvercreek Senior Living – St. Augustine

I had a great time this last week playing for the friendly residents and staff at Silvercreek Senior Living Community. This is a gorgeous, brand new facility right here in St. Augustine, offering assisted living, memory and respite care. So fun to play some afternoon Christmas Music for everyone!

An hour’s time is just perfect to cover the top holiday tunes – traditional carols, classic favorites and a few songs new on the Christmas scene. I always have a good time playing this time of year 🙂

Christmas Party – Jacksonville

, ,

Jacksonville, FL

I had the chance to play a private Christmas party this weekend, which was great for two reasons: 1. I love playing Christmas music (I can only “certifiably” play it for 1 month out of the year), 2. Are you seeing that spectacular view??  My backdrop for the evening was an incredible view of the water from the 10th floor.

The Christmas season always flies by, so its a true delight to be invited to play music for special gatherings like these ♥

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club – My Gentle Harp

This was an absolutely gorgeous spot for wedding vows – the Oceanfront Courtyard at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club. In my opinion, a spectacular view of the Atlantic always makes for a perfect backdrop 🙂

Here’s what I played, which included a few songs to celebrate the couple’s Indian heritage:

Prelude ~ A Thousand Years (Christina Perri), River Flows In You (Yiruma), Nenjukulle

Entrance for Parents & Bridal Party ~ Canon In D (Pachelbel)

Bride’s Entrance ~ Hoppipolla (Sigur Ros)

Recessional ~ Wedding March (Mendelssohn)

Cedar House Inn – St. Augustine, FL

St. Augustine Harpist – Cedar House Inn

Over the course of 6 years as a special event harpist, I have played for many a wedding…but this ceremony stands out from all the rest. The ceremony was charming and simple – only 7 people were in the room including me. A single vase of flowers, a bottle of champagne and a petite wedding cake to decorate the parlor of the Cedar House Inn.

The bride and groom had an extremely touching love story of rekindled romance that spanned many years and obstacles. Along with that, the wedding start time had to be moved earlier in the day twice because Hurricane Matthew was headed right towards us. On my way to the Inn, I passed boarded windows, empty streets and sand bags in downtown St. Augustine. The Inn owner (who happened to hold the right qualifications) had to stand in for the officiant, who couldn’t make it due to weather. After a very sweet ceremony, cake cutting and a toast, we all had to leave quickly – the Inn was in a mandatory evacuation zone, and from the color of the sky we knew the storm was on its way.

Which it was…Hurricane Matthew ended up to be a category 3 hurricane, that left St. Augustine and the surrounding areas with flooding, downed trees and power lines, and a concerted clean up effort afterwards. For myself and those who were there, this will be remembered as a sweet little wedding ceremony that took place in the calm before the storm!

Here is what I played, at the bride and groom’s request:

  • Prelude ~ Hymns and other sacred greats: How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, Eternal Father Strong to Save, The Way That He Loves, Fairest Lord Jesus
  • Groom & Officiant ~ The Gael (from Last of the Mohicans)
  • Bride’s Staircase Entrance ~ Canon in D
